Community Lay-Leaders' Health Training Certificate Course

Objective

The objective of the course is to equip Christian NGO workers serving in rural India with basic primary health care knowledge and skills so that they will be able to extend holistic care to their own families and the communities they serve.

Eligibility

Christian NGO workers based in remote areas with a minimum education of 12th Standard pass.

Course Description

A 1-year course in primary health care with a focus on disease prevention, health education, managing minor health problems and appropriate referrals. The course is offered in regional languages and includes three face-to-face 'Contact Programs' facilitated by nurse trainers.

Study Materials

Six volumes with over 60 problem-based interactive modules and health education material available in English, Hindi, Tamil and Odia.

Contact Program

  • Residential classes for hands-on training.
  • Total of 45 days (3 sessions of 20+15+10 days respectively, spaced over a one year period).
  • Conducted in 22 partner Mission Hospitals across India and Nepal.
  • Training in Health Education using skits, flash cards, puppets, songs and stories.
  • Training in First Aid and simple clinical skills.
  • Train to identify illness and refer appropriately.
  • Times of fellowship, sharing and prayer.

Target

To train 10,000 Christian NGO workers, who in turn will help 10 villages each and thereby bring holistic healing to 1,00,000 remote villages in our country.
